Touch 10k

Touch 10k is a dynamic service initiative under the Momentum Youth Ministries Program that seeks to mobilize Seventh-day Adventist youth, young adults, and entire congregations across the North American Division to reach and positively impact at least 10,000 people annually within their local communities. Rooted in the compassion and mission of Jesus, this initiative empowers churches to become active agents of hope and healing—being the hands and feet of Christ to those closest to them.

Led by youth and young adults with the full support of church leaders and adult members, Touch 10k is not just about numbers—it’s about meaningful encounters. It creates opportunities to serve with purpose, kindness, and intentionality, responding to real needs with practical love. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:36, “I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.” These words form the heartbeat of Touch 10k.

While the Adventist Church has long been recognized globally for its humanitarian impact through organizations like ADRA and Adventist Community Services (ACS), Touch 10k refocuses that same energy locally. It recognizes that mission begins at home—with neighbors, classmates, and community members who are often overlooked. Touch 10k gives every local church, youth group, and club the chance to make a lasting difference, one act of service at a time—meeting needs, building relationships, and sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ right where they are.

Touch 10k Goals:

To inspire every local church across the North American Division to reach and positively impact at least 10,000 individuals annually within their surrounding community.
To mobilize every church member to take active, personal involvement in community outreach and service.
To create meaningful, non-intrusive opportunities for members to serve others and authentically share their personal testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How is this done?
Local youth groups, congregations, and clubs are encouraged to designate one Sabbath each month to go out and make a meaningful impact as part of the Touch 10k initiative!

Touch 10k Service Ideas

The Cold Bottle of Water initiative is a refreshing and meaningful way to engage both youth and adults in community outreach as part of the Touch 10k movement. This project involves placing encouraging Bible verses—such as “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst” (John 4:14)—on cold bottles of water.

On a designated Sabbath afternoon, youth groups and entire congregations come together to label the bottles in a fun, interactive setting that fosters fellowship and service-minded excitement. Once labeled, each participant is given a minimum of five bottles to distribute throughout the local community. The goal is to create personal, positive connections by offering a cool drink and a warm word of encouragement.

These small, Spirit-led gestures become seeds of hope, reminding individuals that God sees, cares, and provides. It’s not just about handing out water—it’s about offering Living Water through love in action.

The Quarterback Sneak is a simple yet powerful Touch 10k service initiative designed to bless community members in a practical and unexpected way. Participants discreetly visit local laundromats armed with rolls of quarters, offering them to individuals who are washing or drying clothes.

This small gesture helps ease the financial burden of doing laundry, especially for families in need, while showing the love of Jesus through quiet acts of kindness. No speeches or announcements —just a thoughtful “sneak” of generosity that leaves a lasting impression of care and compassion.

Bundle of Blessings: Community Baby Shower is a heartwarming Touch 10k initiative designed to honor and support expectant and new mothers in the local community—especially those facing financial or emotional challenges.

This community baby shower, hosted by a local church or youth group, becomes a tangible way to share the love of Jesus by providing essential baby items, encouragement, and prayer in a welcoming, uplifting environment.

Objective:
To bless 10 or more mothers with a joyful, dignified celebration that supplies them with much-needed baby essentials while also connecting them to a caring faith community.

How It Works:

Church Involvement: Youth, young adults, and church members collaborate to collect baby supplies (diapers, wipes, onesies, bottles, blankets, formula, etc.) through donations, registries, or local store partnerships.
Event Setup: Transform a fellowship hall or community center into a baby shower venue with themed decorations, food, games, and gift tables.
Guest Outreach: Partner with local women’s shelters, clinics, and social service agencies to invite mothers in need.
Program Elements:
- Short devotional thought on God’s love and purpose for every life (Psalm 139:13-14).
- Prayer of blessing over each mother.
- Distribution of personalized gift bundles.
- Fun, interactive baby shower games led by the youth.

By providing free backpacks filled with supplies, churches can make a lasting difference in the lives of local families as the school year begins.

Objective:

To distribute fully stocked backpacks to at least 100 students in the church's local community, offering practical support and spiritual encouragement through intergenerational service and connection.

How It Works:

Church Involvement:

Organize a donation drive for backpacks and school supplies (notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders, glue sticks, etc.).
Invite church members, youth, and young adults to “adopt a backpack” and fill it with grade-appropriate materials.
Partner with local schools or community organizations to identify students and families in need.

Backpack Blessing Day:

Host a community event on a Sabbath or Sunday featuring:
- A prayer station for students and families
- Light refreshments and music
- A short devotional or children's story about God’s plans for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11)
- Free backpack giveaway and optional sign-up for ongoing church-supported tutoring or kids’ programs

Personal Touch:

Include a handwritten note of encouragement or a Bible verse in each backpack (e.g., “The Lord is my shepherd...” Psalm 23:1).

Community Game Night: Game On with Grace is a joyful, relationship-building initiative that uses games, food, and fun as tools for outreach and connection. This intergenerational community game night brings together church members and local residents in a relaxed, welcoming environment that promotes fellowship, breaks down barriers, and opens the door for ongoing relationships and ministry opportunities.

Objective:
To create a safe, non-intimidating space where youth, adults, families, and neighbors can connect, laugh, and build community—while experiencing the joy and kindness of Christ through intentional interaction.

How It Works:

Plan the Night:
- Choose a large, accessible venue (church fellowship hall, community center, or local park).
- Set up game stations (board games, card games, dominoes, video game corners, and group games like Uno tournaments, Jenga, or Bible trivia).
- Offer kid-friendly spaces with crafts, face painting, blow ups if possible or simple games for younger children.
- Include music (allow each age group to submit a playlist), snacks, and simple prizes or giveaways (ex: gift cards, custom Touch 10k water bottles, devotional books).
Involve the Church Family:
- Encourage youth and young adults to serve as game hosts and greeters.
- Invite adults to engage in intergenerational play and conversation.
- Prepare conversation starters or “connection cards” that help build friendships and gently introduce faith.
Add a Ministry Moment:
