Resources for Church Revitalization

The Center for Young Adult Integration provides leadership development training and resources for Church Revitalization.

The second largest age demographic of members being baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America is young adults ages 18-30, second only to children and teenagers ages 7-17 (eAdventist statistical data PDF). Therefore, the common comment that “our young adults are all leaving the church” is only a myth. Many are staying and many more are joining the Seventh-day Adventist Church!

The most important activity a church can do to reach and retain young adults is to continuously be actively involved in a church revitalization process. This kind of process develops spaces and places for young adults to belong and to be included in leadership roles where they can invest their God-given talents and inspire their friends and colleagues to participate in spiritual life and worship.

Young adults give birth to and raise up the next generation of Christ-followers as their children grow into teenagers and emerging adults. Therefore, it is vital to the life of every church that children’s ministry be the strongest and most invested area of the church, followed by youth, young adult, and family ministries.

It is still the same today! When youth and young adults are mentored and empowered into leadership roles they become change-makers with God in their churches, in their workplaces, and throughout their communities. (Young Adult LIFE)

Therefore, this Center for Young Adult Integration, with resources for Church Revitalization, is committed to providing intergenerational leader-development training and resources that can transform the spiritual life and focus of congregations and the communities they serve.

This Framework is developed based on three research-based church revitalization models:
